19 - The Sun

This Celtic year I believe I'd like to complete a yearly reading; Into the Dawn provided my inspiration.  Instead of beginning with January 1, I decided to use 10/31 as my new year.  So using her method, my theme card for this year, 11/1/2010-11/1/2011, is # 19; the Sun.  This theme card is determined by adding the numbers of your birth month+day+current year.

Some say this is one of, if not the best card in the deck - a sign of very happy and joyous times; dispels negativity and promises a happy ending. From another,

As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully conscious and wide awake. This is science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy.

Both sites state that the birth of children is symbolized by this card; perhaps the Sun as portrayed in a different deck (other decks shows a child riding a white horse).

There are 14 new moons from Nov 2010 - October 2011; corresponding cards are as follows:

How do I know when the new moons are?  This site lists the celestral events by year.  The (R) beside some of the cards indicates a reversal.  I am torn on whether or not to use these; it impacts the meaning  and, prior to drawing these cards, I did not stipulate that reversals would not be read.  Guess I'm committed yes?

Overall it would appear that Coins (pentacles) will rule the year with an equal number of the Major Arcana making an appearance.  Coins cause me to think of money, of the physical world so perhaps this will become the year of my manifesting dreams; financial and otherwise.  I am curious to see how the Majors fit into this mix.  Let's start with this months card... just a little late in posting.
